Forklift Licencing – The Old and The New Licencing System
Steve Hughes,
AIMM Industrial Training

The current forklift licencing system is due to change nationally on the 1st January 2012 with the introduction of the new national WHS legislation. Forklift operation has been deemed “high risk” work for the last few years and employers must take reasonable steps to comply. The current NSW 52 question test to obtain a WorkCover licence will change. This presentation covers “prohibited practices” in forklift operation and strategies to ensure compliance. VOCs, refresher programs and proof of training will become critical in the new system.

This also requires training, instruction, risk assessment and control measures are to be provided where there is a change in plant or a work process occurs.
